Ever get bored with just one picture in a frame, but don't have enough money for a fancy digital picture frame? This is sort of a solution but not really?
Ever get bored with just one picture in a frame, but don't have enough money for a fancy digital picture frame? This is sort of a solution but not really?
Materials: ~Picture Frame ~Cardstock or heavy weight paper ~Two photos to switch between ~Paper cutter or scissors ~Ruler ~Glue or rubber cement ~Scoring pad (optional)
Remove the glass from the frame. Measure along the inside area where the picture will be visible. This will be slightly smaller than the intended photo size. (The frame I bought was for a 5"x7" photo but my inner measurement was 4.5"x6.5".) Cut out a piece of cardstock with the same height and slightly more than twice the length of this measured area (Mine was 4.5"x15")
Decide what height fold you'd like. I chose 0.5". Accordion fold the entire width of your paper. I used a pair of scissors to score along each line to make folding easier; a scoring pad would make it even easier than that.
Crop your photos to fit the inner measurement of your frame. Cut each photo into slices the width of your folds. Make sure the keep the pieces ordered or they won't come out correctly in the end.
Alternate the pieces from the picture together from left to right. It should go: PictureA piece1, pictureB piece1, pictureA piece2, pictureB piece2, etc, etc. This step is long and tedious. Organization is key.
Align them with your folded cardstock, making sure to leave a little bit on the ends uncovered. Tediously glue them to each fold so that the pieces of one picture face left, and the pieces of the other picture face right.
Insert into frame. Tape down the excess into the cardboard backing of the frame. The front will be bulging out the frame, glue it down with some hot glue. Make sure your folds are as evenly spaced as possible when gluing down.
And tada, you're done! I would post a video here, but CO+K keeps glitching when i try to link my YouTube... can i post the link? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaBgHGmRgMQ&feature=youtu.be Watch that... it kind of looks odd in static pictures...
