Before you begin, cut your plastic sandwich bags into 2-3 inch squares. Be sure to have at least 10, though more won't hurt in case you need extras.

You Will Need (6 things)

  • Top Coat Nail Polish
  • Q Tips
  • 1 Different Colored Nail Polish
  • Any brand White Nail Polish
  • Acetone Nail Polish Remover
  • Any brand or size A Plastic Sandwich Bag

Steps (5 steps, 20 minutes)

  1. 1

To begin, paint your nails your with your favorite white polish. Don't worry about them being completely opaque as we'll be painting over them shortly. Wait for it to dry completely or add your favorite fast dry top coat to speed things up.

  2. 2

Using the other polish colors you've selected, add large drops of polish to your nail. Use as many colors as you'd like (even adding more white polish), though keep in mind, too many colors may muddle the watercolor effect.

  3. 3

Place one of the cut sandwich bag squares over your entire nail and wet polish. Press down and "smoosh" the polish onto your nail. This will smear/blend the polish together to create the look we're going for.

If you'd like to mix things up a bit, use squares of crumpled up saran wrap to dab the wet polish instead. This will create a more marbled effect. Play around with what you like!

  4. 4

Remove the plastic and assess the look you've created. If you're not happy with how the colors blended, repeat step 3 with less polish until you've found a blend you like.

  5. 5

Once you've done all your nails, use a Q-tip and some pure acetone to clean up the mess you've made around on the skin around your nails. Add your favorite fast dry top and you're done!
