Usamimi Bow
AKA Kagamine Rin's Bow
Posted by Amy L.
About
The Japanese word "usamimi" literally translates into "rabbit ears" and these headbands are EVERYWHERE and SO ADORABLE.
Vocaloid is a Japanese voice synthesizer with a voice named Kagamine Rin, who is EVERYWHERE and SO ADORABLE.
And she wears an usamimi bow!
So, here's my attempt to recreate it.

You Will Need (3 things)
- 8 Round Object To Draw Around
- Fabric
- Needle And Thread Or Sewing Machine
Steps (9 steps, 20 minutes)
-
1
Find something round to trace around. I used this flower pot (it's got a diameter of 17 cm.)
The larger the diameter of the round thing, the larger your bow will be.
(If you're trying to make it as Rin-ish as possible, make your bow abnormally large.) -
2
Cut your circle out and fold in half, right sides together.
Pin around.
-
3
Sew around, leaving an opening for turning.
-
4
Turn the half-circle right-side out and sew the opening shut.
-
5
Cut a rectangle of fabric. (Mine was 7x8 cm)
Fold in half, right sides together, and sew the long end closed.
-
6
Turn right side out and fold in half.
Press it if you need to. -
7
The half circle is your bow base.
The rectangle is the wrap. -
8
Accordion-fold the half circle, straight edge at the top. Wrap your wrapper around it and sew the edges.
Cut off excess wrapper fabric.

Ta-da!
Your usamimi/Kagamine Rin bow is done!!
