Description

You can easily make art out of upcycled cereal boxes and empty CD cases. It’s simple, fun and thrifty for the whole family. Feel free to modify the supplies and/or steps. Old CD cases also make perfect frames for photos!

Instructions

  1. Small 114569 2f2016 06 21 034930 wallart 1

Start with a cereal box & some empty CD cases. I’ve decided to make 4 wall paintings.

  2. Small 114569 2f2016 06 21 034936 wallart 2

Measure the dimensions of the inside of the CD case then cut the cereal box cardboard to fit in the empty cases. Trim to fit.

  3. Small 114569 2f2016 06 21 034954 wallart 8

Now customize your art. Decoupage plain paper to the cardboard to act as a canvas. Note: this is an optional step. Feel free to paint directly onto the cereal box cardboard.

  4. Small 114569 2f2016 06 21 035002 wallart 3

Add layers of pencil, paint and mixed media materials. Also feel free to have the original design of the cereal box peak through your art. And by all means play with your materials and have fun – if you don’t like what you’ve made then start again! Allow to dry.

  5. Small 114569 2f2016 06 21 035016 wallart 5

Insert the dry paintings into the CD cases.

You can use mounting tape to hang your paintings. Or glue gun magnets to the back and hang your art on your fridge. So many possibilities! Here’s the final set of cereal box paintings – W I S H. Cereal box art is da bomb!
