Upcycled Thailand Beach Dress
Making it wearable for everyday use

"I love you, but... I can't wear that dress!" That's pretty much how I reacted when my boyfriend came home from Thailand a couple of years ago. He had bought me a shitload of weird beach dresses. I'm sure they work fine on the beach in Thailand but I live in Sweden and I rarely ever go to the beach.
The dresses took up space and finally one day I said "screw this, let's make it wearable". So I split the skirt into eight pieces and cut out eight triangles to insert between them. Unfortunately, the fabric I chose sucked and was awful to work with. It's an old glossy sheet (I think I've used it for pretty much all of my creations) that works okay if you don't need to cut it in an exact shape. Triangles consist of straight lines and the fabric refused to stay put. It might go easier with a rotary cutter but I don't have one. But I managed and the result turned out okay. Yay!
Thanks to my sister for taking the pictures.
