Steps (10 steps, 45 minutes)
-
1
First, find a sweater, wash in hot water, and tumble dry. This way you know it's not going to shrink! Cut the sleeves off.
-
2
Cut the sleeves open on the inside seam.

4
Now you're going to cut out the hood.
-
5
Ok, so this may sound wrong, but you're going to sew it together wrong sides facing. Just trust me here. Zig zag as close to the edge as you can.
-
6
Then turn it right sides facing and sew again, using a 1/2" seam allowance to make sure none of the first seam shows through. This is a french seam. It will keep your cocoon from unraveling.
-
7
Repeat steps 5 and 6 with the hood pieces, stopping 5 inches from the bottom.
-
8
Pin the hood inside the cocoon with the wrong side of the hood facing the wrong side of the cocoon. Zig Zag.
-
9
Fold over and sew again, forming a french seam.

Decorate!
