I made these to go with my Robot Unicorn costume for this Halloween!

'Scuse my messy floor and my pale, creepy legs.

You Will Need (5 things)

  • 2 strings of battery-powered Fairy Lights
  • Pumps
  • 2 Foam Sheets
  • 2 Feather Boa
  • 2 strings of battery-powered Fairy/Christmas Light(s)

Steps (9 steps, 30 minutes)

  1. 1

Here are the pumps I used as my base, just cheap ones I didn't mind potentially ruining (but I think I'll still be able to use them after Halloween, so no worries.) The heel is maybe 2.5" or 3", but you can go as low or high as you like.

  2. 2

Begin by making a hoof-like, rounded, near-circular outline with scrunched newspaper. I taped it in place with shiny silver duct tape. Use whatever color you have, but it helps if it blends with the color of your hoof.

  3. 3

Build up the hoof with more newspaper and tape. You want a tall, rounded shape that slants slightly backwards towards your foot.

  4. 4

Cut your foam so it fits around the front of the shoe, covering the newspaper and stands 4" tall. Tape it to the shoe so it at least mostly covers the newspaper and sticks up like pictured.

NOT PICTURED: Then, cut the foam about halfway down the height down the front, so you have a slit. It should line up with the very front of the shoe.

  5. 5

Start at the slit, fold one flap over the other, and tape down as shown. Be careful not to smush all that volume you built up with the newspaper!

  6. 6

Then tape down the corners that are sticking out.

It's starting to look hoof-like by now, isn't it? We're getting close to done!

  7. 7

Finish it off with more tape until you get a shape like this. It will look like a super-thick platform.

Do the other shoe, of course.

  8. 8

Take one boa, tuck one end into the front corner of your shoe, and wrap it around your leg, covering up the top of the shoe and your ankle, tying the end into a loose knot. Repeat on the other side, of course. You'll get a mass of fluff resembling legwarmers.

  9. 9

For a little something extra, twist the boa and a battery-powered string of lights together, then tape the battery pack to your ankle and wrap the boa up like usual.

There you go! Enjoy clip-clopping around all night~ :)

    Happy Halloween!

    xoxo
