I really love making coffee sleeves and most people who drink coffee appreciate getting them. It is a really nice way to give a gift card as well. A felt coffee sleeve probably costs about $.40 to make if you have to buy the felt new. I just save scraps from all of my projects. You can stitch up this project in about 10-20 minutes and this sleeve would make a really cute little teacher gift for Valentine's Day with "#1 Teacher" on it. I actually made this sleeve for my little sister who just loves coffee.

The easiest way to get a pattern for a coffee sleeve is to keep the paper sleeve from your next cup of coffee. I traced around my last paper coffee sleeve and made a little paper pattern.
Cut out 2 sleeves from felt. I cut one sleeve with decorative edge scissors.
Once I have the 2 sleeves cut, I trim down the top fabric so that I have a nice border.
Then I cut out 4 hearts, 2 from light felt and 2 from dark. Again, I actually cut them all the same size and then trimmed 1/4" off the middles to make them fit nicely. Also, you should sew the top and bottom layers of the sleeve together. I used the zigzag stitch on my machine with black thread to make a nice decorative element.
Next, I used the blanket stitch to attach the middle of the hearts to the outside of the hearts. Then, I used the zigzag stitch to applique the hearts onto the sleeve. You could actually attach everything with fabric glue or with iron on craft fuse (carefully because felt can melt under the iron). You could also hand stitch the project. It probably would not take long. There really isn't that much stitching.
Then, I folded the sleeve in half and stitched the back seam together.
Finally, you want to customize the sleeve. You could use iron on monograms, embroider words or monograms, use t-shirt transfers, appliques or even puffy paint.
