You Will Need (7 things)

  • Newspaper
  • Twine
  • Masking Tape
  • Paints (optional)
  • Hot Glue Gun And Glue Sticks
  • Paintbrush
  • Greenery (for top of carrot, optional)

Steps (7 steps, 30 minutes)

  1. 1

Fold a newspaper to the length you want the carrot to be and roll up slightly on the diagonal. If you want a more pointed carrot, you would need to make it even more on the diagonal. Trim the top as needed.

  2. 2

Tape up the newspaper with masking tape, scrunching the bottom tightly so it will be slimmer and cover it completely.

  3. 3

Add greenery in the center. For this project, it was purchased, but you could cut strips of newspaper or even the twine and paint it green then insert it in the top. Hot glue to secure.

  4. 4

Start at the center top and hot glue a piece of the twine down and start wrapping the twine in a circle to cover. Use the hot glue gun as needed to secure.

  5. 5

Wrap the twine completely around the carrot. If you wanted a more rustic looking carrot, you could stop at this point and you would be done.

  6. 6

Tempura paint was used, but you could use acrylic paint. The orange was a bit obnoxious to it was toned down using brown and white, but you could make your carrot any color you would like.

  7. 7

    Paint the carrot.
