Foundation ring: Using A, make 4ch and join in with a ss in first ch to form a ring. Round 1 (RS): 5ch (counts as 1tr and 3ch), *[1tr in ring, 2ch] 5 times, join with a ss in 3rd of 5-ch at beg of round. Fasten off A. Cont in rounds with RS always facing you. Round 2: Join B with a ss in top of any tr, *5ch, 3trtrCL in next 2-ch sp, 5ch, 1dc/rf around next tr from previous Round; rep from * 5 times more, join with a ss in same sp as joining st. Fasten off B. Fasten off.
Joining triangles When you have made all the triangles for the blanket, first sew in all the ends, then block and steam each triangle on the wrong side before laying out the blanket design. The easiest way to join lots of triangles is first to join them in strips and then to sew the strips together to make a larger piece. Lay out all the triangles on a flat surface, ensuring that you place the colours randomly, and then set them out in strips as in the diagram. Join the triangles together in strips using the overcast joining method, with right sides together. Label each strip in rows 1 to 9 (or up to the number you have in a row).
When all the strips are joined, join the strips to each other to create the blanket – making sure that the points of each set of triangles meet in the centre.
