Ladder necklaces are all the rage right now - it's so fun to style them with pieces from your wardrobe or layer them with other necklaces. But they can get expensive, so why not DIY one for yourself?

Measure 3" across the length of your popsicle stick. Mark with lines as shown. Mark the center of that 3" as well.
Now, measure a 1 cm drop on a common side and mark them like in the photo.
Draw a line from the 1 cm point to the middle point. Connect the other point to the middle as well, forming a triangle with a 'drop'.
Before cutting out our shapes, mark and drill two holes on each end of the triangle. I suggest you work with the smallest bit (1/16") before moving up to the 3/32" bit - makes it less likely to crack and will save you a ton of frustration. Sand each side of the popsicle stick prior to cutting. Concentrate on sanding the holes but don't put too much pressure.
Now, cut your shapes up with an x-acto knife. Be careful and patient, it cracks easily near the drilled holes. I ended up making 6 more triangles just cause I can't get the other one right, lol!
Now, paint with nail polish. I love using the Insta-Dri line from Sally Hansen, it dries really fast and it's very opaque. You can also use spray paint, but that takes a bit longer to dry. Paint the edges first before filling the front space. Wait for that to dry, then fill in the back space.
Cut up 4 pieces of the same length of chain. Assemble it as shown in the photo. With a 3/32" hole, you can add two jump rings without it being too tight.
Attach your main chain and you are done! You can wear it short like so or lengthen the chain more for a longer drop then layer it with other necklaces. :) Enjoy your new necklace!
