Gather your awesome materials!
To make your stamen: Cut a 1 inch strip from the end of your first sheet of tissue paper
Unfold the piece lengthways and cut off a section about 4-5 inches long
Snip little strips all the way along, leaving a solid border at the top. Be careful not to cut all the way up!
Stick some washi tape along the solid border and turn over so the sticky side of the tape faces up
Wrap the tape around your bamboo skewer…
…folding and creasing the tape as you go, creating a fanned-out paper stamen…
…like this!
Creating your petals: Take your second sheet of paper & cut a strip about 3-4 inches long
Cut out two sizes of petal shapes; small and large
Using your small petals, overlap them onto a piece of upturned washi tape
Wrap the tape around the stamen, creasing the tape and gently fluffing the petals out as you go…
…so you have something like this.
Now do the same with your big petals!
…or if you find it easier, you can add them individually…
…moulding the tape and fluffing the petals out as you go.
Continue adding petals until you reach floral perfection!
If you’re feeling fancy you can even add some leaves as a finishing touch.
Ta dah!
Congratulations on your first paper flower - now go find a cocktail to pop it in!
