When I was baking my mom a birthday cake, I imagined it decorated with pom pom flowers (in yellow, her favorite color of course). When I went to the craft store and couldn't find anything like what I pictured in my head, I decided to make my own!

Gather a pile of 8 sheets of tissue paper and cut out squares around 3 1/4" wide.
Accordion fold your pile of squares and wrap your food safe wire (check your craft stores cake decorating aisle) around the middle.
Trim the corners so they are rounded.
Pull apart the layers and fluff your "flowers".
Trim down wire to desired length and place on top of your cake!
