In honor of William and Kate’s wedding we got a little excited and on top of waking up at 3am to watch the overseas festivities, we all made our own tinfoil tiaras to wear in bed while watching.

In honor of William and Kate’s wedding we ladies of twitter got a little excited and on top of waking up at 3am to watch the overseas festivities, we all made our own tinfoil tiaras to wear in bed while live tweeting each other. They always say the best ideas come when you aren’t looking for them. I was aiming for over-the-top craziness with my tiara but landed on something really wearable and cute! So from our silliness comes your gain. Big tinfoil bow optional. This headband is a great way to use up scraps of leftover yarn. Want a small, dainty headband? Use sock yarn and size 4 needles. Want a big, chunky headband? Use bulky yarn and size 15 needles. This simple cabled headband is sure to be a staple in your wardrobe about 20 minutes after you cast it on. Oh yeah, it’s a quick knit. Mix it up with different yarn weights and needle sizes. You’ll want a ton of these! Yarns suggested: Knit Picks CotLin Yarn weight: DK / 8 ply (11 wpi) Needle size: US 8 - 5.0 mm SPECIAL STITCHES C8F: Sl 4 sts to CN and hold to front, K4, K4 sts from CN. C8B: Sl 4 sts to CN and hold to back, K4, K4 sts from CN.

Instructions

  1. CO 10 sts. Row 1: Sl1, K to end. Row 2 and all even rows: Sl1 PW, P to end. Row 3: Sl1, K1, C8F. Rows 5, 7, 9: Sl1, K to end. Row 11: C8B, K2. Rows 13 and 15: Sl1, K to end. Row 16: Sl1 PW, P to end. Repeat rows 1-16 until headband wraps around your head, about 20", ending ideally on row 16 but row 8 is ok, too.

  2. FINISHING Seam headband together and weave in the ends. Block flat, stretching out the cables. Wear every day whether you're a princess or not.
