I was playing the 'tin man' from The Wizard of Oz in our amateur musical group. I do not like the polished shiny silver look of most tin men, since the whole story is about him being rusty and unable to move. And I do like steampunk stuff, so I thought this up and our director said: yes, please! So here we are. The breastplate and skirt are made out of foam with 3 coats of painting. The shoes were ordinary sneakers, also painted. The eye piece is made out of a plastic cup which stored snack tomatoes and the top of a locker yarn spool. The shirt was originally black but turned a rusty brown when confronted with bleach. The hat is made of an old pair of jeans, another tomato cup and the dreads are made out of wool. Rust colored tights, knee protectors for skating (never used) painted with acrylic gold paint. I also did my own make-up with paint in the colors: copper, gold, silver, black and white.
