Tin Box Re Vamp
new life of an ugly tin box

ok, i know this is no rocket science project, but i might be able to give some tips for ghetto-kids like me, who don't have access to fancy sticky-papers, printers and exacto-knives [yes, i cut with scissors and it's sometimes painful].
I drew the butterfly on the yellow paper, cut it out, traced around it on a piece of clear plastic [soft packaging plastic from a cd cover], cut the butterfly out of plastic [folding it in half, cutting a hole in the middle, unfolded and cut from inside out. yes. that's what scissors make you do] so it became a stencil.
I sprayed the box with a "Flat Black" [means "not shiny"], cos i prefer matte finishing, but that's just my taste. Next, and now it's the trick i used - i put some petroleum jelly on the plastic stencil, so that it sticks and the paint won't bleed under it. And sprayed with golden spray paint =)
*off topic, but important: since petroleum jelly is banned from use in cosmetic products [Petrolatum causes cancer] i use it in crafts [as a temporarily glue, hence the usage of clear thin plastic]. Please don't use it in making lip balms and such.
Spray Paint is one of my favorite things in this life. Try spraying some water on a painted surface and spraying another color immediately on the water drops, and let it dry, to get a "wow-how-did-you-make-it" effect =) i'll show you some pictures of it if anyone's interested.
Thank you for your attention <3
