I found some thimbles at the thrift store and in order to reuse them, I made necklaces! These would be a great gift and even fun to sell at a farmers market.

Instructions

  1. Small whatyouneedforthimble 1314371701

Gather your supplies. You'll also need a set of pliers (not pictured).

  2. Small thimble1 1314371751

First cut your felt in a circle shape and make a little snip for the flowers and insert them in the hole.

  3. Small thimble2 1314371784

Glue around the flowers on the backside to secure. Let it dry.

  4. Small thimble3 1314371810

Stuff a little bit of poly fill underneath the flower.

  5. Small thimble4 1314371871

With your needle and thread, make a running stitch along the bottom and tighten it. I also wrapped the thread around it then knotted it securely. Trim the bottom.

  6. Small thimble5 1314371894

With your tool or drill, make two holes on each side of the thimble. This tool (a steel hole punch) is from Fire Mountain Gems. It's safer than a drill and really handy to make holes in metal. I highly recommend it!

  7. Small thimble6 1314372012

I drilled mine from the inside out so it wouldn't bend.

  8. Small thimble7 1314372039

Glue some cute lace around the edge. Let dry.

  9. Small thimble8 1314372084

Attach the jump rings to the thimble and each end of the chain.

  10. Small thimbleends 1314372108

Depending whether you're left or right handed (to determine which side you want your clasp on), attach the jump rings and clasp.

  11. Small thimble9 1314372147

Place a little bit of glue inside the thimble, insert your flower and push it down a bit so it fits correctly. Your pretty little necklace is done! Wear and enjoy. These are going to make such great gifts for my crafty friends!
