The White Rabbit

For Halloween 2013, friends of mine threw an Alice in Wonderland-themed party. I knew I wanted to do something AWESOME. So after a few weeks of brain-storming, I decided to do my own spin on The White Rabbit. The costume was almost entirely sourced from my own (extensive) costume collection. I think the only things I had to go out & buy were the red wig, bunny ears & tail. I had my mom lend me every single old/broken watch she had in the house, and pinned them all over my jacket, I wore my grandfather's pocket watch around my neck. The rest of the costume consisted of red Converse, fuzzy white leg warmers, black & white diamond patterned thigh highs, black garter belt, a short white petticoat under a short red tutu, a frilly white blouse, black suit-jacket, white lace fingerless gloves, a black silk scarf I folded over to fake an ascot with, a red wig, bunny ears & tail from a Halloween store, and a white & silver fascinator (tiny top hat) I'd made for another costume. The makeup was by far the most elaborate part; so much so that I actually sketched it out on a piece of paper beforehand to figure out exactly what I wanted it to look like. I started with regular cheap old cream "clown white," then layered matte white eye shadow over it for a really opaque look, & to set it. Then I did my eyes with grey& black sparkly shadow, lined with black pencil & accented with pink. I also used the pink shadow on my nose & lips. I used back liner to draw on the rabbit jaw & whiskers, and to draw suit of card symbols under my eyes. I used lash glue to affix red & black gemstones next to my eyes. All in all, for only costing me about $40 ($30 of that was the wig), it ended up being one of the best costumes I've ever created, and I wore it to 4 different Halloween parties!
