Description

Hello everyone! I just wanted to share the making of this wonderful skirt. I love love love it. Heres the tutorial!

Instructions

  1. Small pb290053 1291082769

First, pick out a fabric that you want. I would strongly recommend a jersey type. I used this old dress I got at a thrift store a while ago.

  2. Small pb290054 1291082846

Now, measure your waist where you want the skirt to be. I chose pretty high up my waist, because I thought it would look better.

  3. Small pb290055 1291082937

Now, divide your waist measurement by 2 and measure that out on your fabric, don't forget about seam allowance. I put pins where it would be at 14 1/2 inches, but use white chalk if you have it.

I then cut up the sides of the old dress, in an A line shape sort of. I just estimated and guessed, but you can surely make it completely even if you want.

Here is your fabric now, with the front and back.

  6. Small pb290059 1291083228

Now cut out 4 pieces of fabric with the dimensions of 10 by 24 inches. This worked for me, and the area on my waist measured 29 inches, so adjust according.

  7. Small pb290060 1291083293

    Here are my 4 pieces.

  8. Small pb290061 1291083318

Fold each of them in half hot dog style and sew up the edge. Then turn right side out, so its like a loop.

  9. Small pb290064 1291083490

I should of taken a picture before this, but just copy the picture and loop the pieces of fabric so it looks like the picture.

  10. Small pb290066 1291083538

Now, put the back piece of fabric on top of the front, right sides in. Pin the sides together and sew them up.

Turn it inside out, and you are done. :) If you want, you can hem the top, but I didn't because of the jersey fabric. Hope I was clear enough, but if I wasn't, comment and I will try to help. And if you couldn't tell, I used different fabric with the drapes, because I ran out of jersey :P
