My friend LOVES tetris on facebook so I decided that I would make these magnetic tetris toys for her birthday. Everything here is hand made and really easy. I'm sorry that i don't have any pictures. This is my first project so i didn't think to follow my steps. But it's easy so don't worry. Also, most of the materials you need are probably just lying around your house. Though it does take some time to do as you felters all know, it is a good way to pass the time and get some cool reactions. But the time varies based on the size, the complexity, how many you make and if you make a box or not. Have fun!

Have fun!

Instructions

  1. 1. Decide how big you want your toys to be. a. how big you want the units to be b. how tall you want it to by. You know how tetris blocks have those units? Well i decided that the easiest way to do this was to decide a length for a unit and then decide on how many units i wanted. My units are 2 cm by 2 cm. the height of my toys are also 2 cm.

  2. 2. Decide the shape you want it to be. Tetris has many shapes to choose from and i decided the shape based on how much felt i had in that color. You should probably get the colors that are actually part of tetris, but i didn't have them.

  3. Small diagram 1308983232

    3. Measure and Cut the shapes out This includes two of the shapes and one long strip that will be the height. Don't forget to measure all around each side of the shape so that you won't come up short.

  4. 4. mark the units This will help you to sew a straight line to mark the units Mine, again, were 2 cm by 2 cm

  5. 5. Sew a straight line across all of the units This can be done my machine or by hand, but i thought, since i didn't want to change my machines thread 7 times, i would do it by hand. If yours is a magnet, you only have to do this to one side since you other side will be up against something

  6. 6. Sew the long strip to the shape i used a blanket stitch because it looks nice, but you can use a whip stitch.

  7. 7. Fill with fiberfill I did this step before i sewed on the back because it was easier to me, but you can switch this with step 8

  8. 8. Sew on the back Be sure to slip in the magnets, if you have them, before your fingers can't reach that far back.

  9. 9. (optional) Make a box

  10. 9a. open a tissue box so it lays flat

  11. 9b. measure how big you want the box's base to be and the height mine was 11x 14 cm and the height 3 cm. don't forget to add the height you want your box to be to the base for the tabs. so the base would be about 14x 17 cm and the height would be 3x 17cm

  12. 9c. Add a pretty wrapping paper

  13. 9d. glue the tabs together to make a box

  14. Small diagram2 1308983847

9e. make a lid take a clear plastic folder and using the base measurement with the tabs and cut it out.To make it easier, make the measurements a milimeter smaller so it fits inside better. then cut away the squares in the corners to make it bendable. use scissors to score where the plastic will bend

  15. 9f. Tape the corners together and insert it into the box this takes some time to do. I found it easier to put the toys in the lid first and then put the box over it. You might want to make a cute tag and put it inside.

  16. 9g. tape it to the box to make sure the toys don't fall out, tape the clear lid to the box.

  17. 10. Finished Now you have cute toys for you or friends and a professional-looking way to package it. Enjoy!
