With your crochet hook and the skein of yarn, chain 16. Row 1: Single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and each stitch across, chain 1, turn. Row 2: Single crochet in 2nd single crochet from hook and each single crochet across, chain 1, turn. Rows 3-56: Repeat Row 2. Fasten off and weave in ends. Embroider some cute little flowers and leaves on each end of the rectangle using yarn scraps.
Cut a rectangle of fabric to match crochet rectangle.
Hem fabric 1/4 inch on a sewing machine.
With wrong sides together, pin and stitch fabric rectangle to crochet rectangle.
Fold edges to middle, right sides together. Pin in place and stitch edges.
Flip right-side out, and voila! Flop it over your teapot handle and use it for taking the hot kettle off the burner.
