Steps (9 steps, 180 minutes)
-
1
Gather up your materials...I chose this Tee Juice Marker Tattoo Set, any fabric markers or sharpie permanent markers would work.
-
2
Figure out how long you would like the scarf to be, and prepare a rectangle of muslin to that measurement. Iron the fabric as smooth as possible to make a flat surface for drawing.
-
3
Space out the drawings or transfers in the placement you prefer. I placed one design near each end of the scarf, and two flame designs centered in the middle.
-
4
Add your favorite song lyrics. For a more graffiti look, layer the text so it overlaps in different directions. You could use bubble lettering, cursive or calligraphy style letters for distinctive looks.
-
5
Heat set the marker by ironing on the setting specified for the fabric. Then fuse the muslin to the fusible fleece to prepare for sewing. Sew around the edges with a zig zag stitch.
-
6
Lay the backing fabric face down, and put the muslin piece face up so that wrong sides are together. Pin around the edges to hold the layers in place.
-
7
Using a decorative stitch and a 1/2 inch seam allowance sew along the edges of the muslin piece.
-
8
Use pinking shears to trim the edges, adding a decorative edging to the scarf.
-
9
As a final step, quilt the scarf as desired.
