I found this cool idea in a Mrtha Stewart magazine! It's a good way to keep a cool tshirt that doesn't fit but can't bear to part with! Plus it's super easy!!
I found this cool idea in a Mrtha Stewart magazine! It's a good way to keep a cool tshirt that doesn't fit but can't bear to part with! Plus it's super easy!!
First find a tshirt that you want to keep but don't want to wear. In this case I used an old tshirt of my husband's that he didn't want that I didn't want to throw out or refit it for me to wear.
Next, turn the tshirt inside out and line up any and all seams on shirt. This way the cuts are straight or at least fairly straight!
After making sure the seams are straight (I'm a bit OCD so I checked about 10-20 times :P, I would suggest checking just twice)then pin the bottom in place and sew shut.
Now turn the tshirt right/nice side out and realign the seams. Now you can cut off the sleeves to make the handles.
Now it's time to make the opening! Take a bowl to make a wider opening for your bag and place the bowl on the neck of the shirt. Make sure that only half of the bowl covers the tshirt.
Now take the marker and trace the edge of the bowl. Then cut along the line and if you want to you can hem the edge if you like (I didn't but you can if you want).
Now your finished!! If you want you can add beads, patches, appliques, etc.
