What are your hobbies?
Researching the history of various baked goods; obsessively searching for cracks in the sidewalk that look like food; taking pictures of skyscrapers; eating my favorite three foods: cake, burgers, and brussels sprouts (no, really).
What are your favorite crafts and what's your craft space like?
For myself--painting and small scale sculpting. To look at (others' work): textiles, crochet, knitting and costume design.
What do you craft along to?
The Splendid Table, KCRW's Good Food, The Moth Podcast, This American Life, How Stuff Works Podcasts, Only in New York podcast
What was the first project you ever made?
First thing I can ever remember making is a portrait of my family in which we were all our favorite foods. Such sweet (and savory!) memories!
What are your favorite items to make?
I love making fake cupcakes (one of my tutorial items); I also LOVE making trompe l'oeil food -- that is, food that is made to look like other things. My favorite thing in particular is to make foods that look like other foods--ie, cakes that look like a steak, cupcakes that look like burgers, etc.
