Let's face it, we all love babydolls. Especially now that we're gonna learn how simple your own DIY-Babydoll works. ;) I have a feeling the -written- tutorial isn't too bright, but I think you'll get the idea!
Let's face it, we all love babydolls. Especially now that we're gonna learn how simple your own DIY-Babydoll works. ;) I have a feeling the -written- tutorial isn't too bright, but I think you'll get the idea!
Step one featuring my super crappy drawings... Either get a preexisting supersized shirt, or get some fabric that you like. We're basically gonna need two squares, the longer, the better, and the width is up to you. The more length you add on the sides, the more volume you'll get. The red lines show what we're gonna do: Give the square a slight A-shape. It's important that the upper with is still much wider than the top part of a normal tank top! Draw, pin, cut, sew. Phew. The horizontal line thingies show that we'll need three strings of the same fabrig to form the strap.
Here's what we should have now. A slightly A-shaped huge fabric-tube and three strings, which we're gonna pull and braid ( pull? Yes, right, I worked with stretchy fabric and these form really nice straps... Of you fabric is non-stretchy, hem and braid. :) ) Hem the top, leaving a little gap to pull some rubber band through. What I do us usually NOT to measure and cut the rubber first but just leave it like it is, on the cardboard or however your rubber band is sold ( lowers the risk of losing the end somewhere in the tube ^^ ) and adjust while wearing! Now you have the option of creating a second tube under your bustline ( by sewing a stip of fabric on the inside of your shirt to create another tube ), which I didn't do. Ok, to be honest, I tried, tried the wrong way, failed and removed it. ^^
Adjust the rubber bands, sew the ends together. Sew both ends of your braid to the middle front part of your top so you can fit your head through and so that the whole thing really stays up where it belongs! You can see option one and two here. Well and now...
...wear it! These work really well with a huge belt at the waist, for example. Or if you're going to an all-you-can-eat restaurant, you can happily munch away and NOOOBODY is gonna see your tummy swell, haha...
