I made one of these wreaths last winter and my Mum has been admiring it all year. With summer in full bloom and her garden as green as ever, I decided to show her how to make her own.
I made one of these wreaths last winter and my Mum has been admiring it all year. With summer in full bloom and her garden as green as ever, I decided to show her how to make her own.
The only thing you need to buy for this project is a wreath hoop. You could even make your own out of wire - but I got some cheap on eBay. You'll also need some wire cutters and extra wire.
Hunt around your garden for pretty leaves, foliage, branches and flowers which you think will look pretty on your wreath. You may need to take more than one trip as we got through our first stash very quickly.
Hold your wreath hoop up and start laying some of the bigger pieces of foliage around the hoop until you see something you like.
Secure each piece in place with a little wire. Don't worry if the wire looks messy at first, it'll soon be covered by foliage.
Work your way around the hoop, starting with larger pieces of foliage that will peek out the back.
Work your way around the entire hoop once and then fill in the gaps and bits that look a little bare.
Keep adding smaller pieces and flowers to your wreath until you're happy with it.
Hang and admire. As the leaves dry our the wreath will take on a new look which is equally as pretty.
