Sugru Flower Necklace
Getting Crafty with Sugru

About
I was sent some 'sugru' to try out. It has so many practical uses such as making a hook for they keys to my jewellery cabinet (no more leaving home without that perfect accessory) also fixing a brush head that had snapped off my fancy spinning mop (sparkly floors once more) but what really inspired me was a failed craft attempt i'd encountered a few weeks ago.
I was making a little dish out of clay and decided with the leftover bits I'd make flowers for a necklace. The flowers were far to heavy and cracked the first time i knocked it - bugger. So when I saw the sugru could be moulded the same way you would mould clay or play-doh but sets like silicone I was excited to rectify my mistake. I was quick to dig out an old necklace, some bobby pins and a rather uninspiring plastic ring. As you can see in the pics I moulded some flowers and leaves and simply stuck them to my items, left them over night to set and hey presto doesn't that necklace perfectly finish my outfit today! This product is versatile and easy to use and I'm sure I've found just one of a million things you could do with it :)

You Will Need (7 things)
- sugru
- Bobby Pins
- Ring
- Necklace
- Tray
- Baking Paper
- Shape Cutters
Steps (17 steps, 60 minutes)
-
1
Gather your supplies, a tray lined with baking paper to work on, some old jewellery in need of an overhaul, and your amazing Sugru!
-
2
I worked with my pieces all at once so my sugru didn't dry out. To make leaves for your jewellery start by rolling the green Sugru into a little pea
-
3
Using your thumb flatten the pea into an egg shape, you can pinch the ends or mark lines in your leaves with your fingernails to add definition
-
4
press your leaves onto the piece you want to decorate
-
5
To make your flowers, roll out some pea sized balls of Sugru in a pretty colour - they have so many to chose from
-
6
Roll one ball into a round teardrop shape and set aside - this is the middle of your rose
-
7
Take another small ball of your sugru and flatten it onto the pad of your finger
-
8
Wrap this 'petal' around your teardrop piece of Sugru then repeat with your other balls
-
9
You can add as many petals as you like, pinch and bend the edges to give a nice ruffled effect to your rose
-
10
carefully snip the end of the rose making a flat surface to stick to your piece
-
11
press your rose onto your jewellery - no glue required! Leave your Sugru overnight to set
-
12
Stop for a moment and admire your amazing creation before moving onto everything else you can find to stick flowers on!
-
13
I used a shape cutter for some daisy shapes to give a bit of interest to my jewellery, roll out the Sugru, press cutter into it and lift out shape, these cutters have a great button at the end for popping your shape out again
-
14
Press your cutouts onto bobby pins and necklaces
-
15
When sticking your flowers onto the necklace, i put a small circle of Sugru onto the back to sandwich the necklace in and keep the flowers secure
-
16
Leave your amazing creations to dry overnight, leave them on the baking paper to ensure they don't stick to the tray or table
-

By the next morning you will be able to wear your amazing one of a kind creations! Just a side note - don't waste any remaining pieces of Sugru - I used mine to repair a cracked brush head from my mop!
