This is simply a way to carve your chosen image onto the pumpkin that you want. Just in time for halloween.
This is simply a way to carve your chosen image onto the pumpkin that you want. Just in time for halloween.
Firstly you must clean down your pumpkin and cut out the top of it so you can gut it. Please never give a child a sharp knife.
Next, you must gut the pumpkin, taking all the filling out and leaving it in a bowl (You could make pumpkin soup). This will take time to do and will be very messy. Kids love doing this bit.
Once this is done you can take your stencil and masking tape it to the pumpkin making sure to leave space for the tape as you need the outline of the stencil.
Once this is done you can start to carefully dot with a sharp knife around the pattern you have chosen (mine was a sugar skull) this will allow when you take off the pattern to see where you need to carve.
Start taking away the part that you want the light to shine right through and then slowly pick away at the other parts leaving some of the parts with shell still in it. Tip: (If doing a skull like mine in the photo leave the outline of the skull to the very end when you have done the detail.)
After praticaly shading your pumpkin add a candle and put on the lid, and brighten up your home with your artistic pumpkin.
