SUFFOLK PUFF CUSHION COVER Using any round object as a template ( i used top edge of a pint glass)cut out 49 circles of cotton fabric. I used a combination of plain & vintage ditsy printed Laura Ashley fabric. Lay 1 of these flat with pattern side down & using 1 strand of matching thread run a row of running stitch all around edge...this is pulled up at end & secured to form a little pleated circle (See pic`s), you dont need to turn a hem as you fix a button to front to cover any raw edges. These are called Suffolk Puffs or Yo-Yo`s & can be used either way up, ive used them wuth pleat finish upper as i like it best.Once you have made up all your puffs have fun laying them out on a flat surface until your happy with design. You will see from my pic`s i used cream & wine plain puffs in a central cross & a mix of the patterned but its totally up to yourself. Once happy with layout pick up 2 adjacent puffs, place pulled up faces together & over sew approx 6 small stitches along edge to secure. Continue until you have a row of 7 ( or more if you have chosen to make a bigger design)...just take care to do it evenly so you have a straight row. I find it easier to do a strip like this at a time then sew these strips together. Once all sewn into a large panal you can embellish the puff middles with a button...like i said earlier it covers any raggy edges. Now all you need to do is sew this onto a ready made cushion or i simple made an envelope style cover from cream curtain lining fabric. Because you only use scraps of fabric for the puffs its a fab stash buster, can be made in a multitude of sizes & colours. My cover was 14" sqaure but make yours to suit whatever size pad you have.
