With a bit of extra fabric and washi tape, you can transform a plain and boring lamp into a unique piece that will take centre stage in your home.
With a bit of extra fabric and washi tape, you can transform a plain and boring lamp into a unique piece that will take centre stage in your home.
This DIY is really customizable. Depending on the shape of your lamp base, you can create vertical or horizontal lines, or a custom pattern using multiple types of washi tape. For my lamp, I chose lace washi tape. Cut it to whatever length you need; in my case, I cut it to run along the lamp vertically.
Adhere the washi tape to the base in the pattern of your choice. Because my lamp base was curved, I created bigger sections that were divided by the washi tape.
For your lampshade, cut your fabric into 1/2 - 1 inch strips.
Take your piece of fabric and tie it to one of the supports on the interior of your lampshade. Then, start wrapping it around the lampshade with the good side of the fabric facing out. If you run out of fabric, tie another piece on to the end of the current piece of fabric
Ater you've wrapped the whole shade, cut the excess fabric off.
Wrap a piece of washi tape around the bottom of the shade to create a uniform look with the base of the lamp.
