Stamping your own clothing is a pretty involved process. It takes a bit of an investment and dedication to design. But it's very rewarding to make your own unique clothes! This is the method I'm using for my senior thesis at school, and I sell some of these designs in my etsy shop.

Stamping your own clothing is a pretty involved process. It takes a bit of an investment and dedication to design. But it's very rewarding to make your own unique clothes! This is the method I'm using for my senior thesis at school, and I sell some of these designs in my etsy shop.

Instructions

  1. Small supplies

Get your supplies together! 1. A Tshirt. Mine's from Target. 2. Stamping rubber. Check online at art supply sites. 3. A carving tool. Also available online. 4. Fabric block printing ink. Mine is Speedball brand. Make sure it says "Block Printing" and "Fabric" on it! 5. A baren for applying even pressure to the stamp. 6. A rolling brayer for applying the ink. 7. A pencil to draw your design.

  2. Small 1

First, draw your design onto the rubber. This strawberry is a three part stamp, so draw your three layers: The strawberry body, the seeds, and the stem.

  3. Small 3

Next you'll carve out the stamps using the various blades in the cutting tool.

  4. Small 4

Here's what they'll look like all cut out!

  5. Small 5

Now squirt some ink onto a hard, washable surface.

  6. Small 6

Use the brayer to apply ink to the strawberry-shaped stamp.

  7. Small 7

Press the stamp onto your shirt using the barne.

  8. Small 8

Keep doing this will all three layers of your stamp.

  9. Small yum

Make sure you let it dry in between layers, and between stamping the front and back!
