I came up with the idea for this anklet because I was trying to make beaded chain links; I mixed seed beads with tiny glass drop beads (like 4 mm in size) and created really cool results. The gold seed beads mimic the golden charms, and the red and black stand for the colors of a strawberry.
I came up with the idea for this anklet because I was trying to make beaded chain links; I mixed seed beads with tiny glass drop beads (like 4 mm in size) and created really cool results. The gold seed beads mimic the golden charms, and the red and black stand for the colors of a strawberry.
First, start by stringing about 11 gold seed beads onto stretchy cord. Add a crimp bead, and pass the cord back thru the crimp to form a tight loop. Crimp the bead shut. Cut the excess cord so only the little gold circle remains. Repeat again to make a total of two golden circles. Repeat this procedure with the red size 11 seed beads to make a total of three red circles, or 5 circles total.
Now do this same process of circle making with the size 15 red seed beads. You'll need about 30 beads for each circle. After stringing the 30 and the crimp bead onto the clear cord, put the cord through one of the red circles, pass the cord back through the crimp, and crimp shut. You'll have a small "chain", with one red size 15 circle and this size 15 circle.
Now, make another circle with the black size 11's alternating with the red small glass drops. I used 10 glass drops per circle. Before crimping the circle closed, pass through the middle of the size 15 circle, created in the last step, pass the cord back through the crimp, and crimp shut. Now you'll have a chain of three circles.
Continue in this pattern: size 15 circle, size 11 circle (alternating from metallic red to gold), size 15 circle, and glass bead circle. Make sure each glass bead circle is attached to two size 15 circles, one on each side. Keep with the pattern (always remembering to put the string through the previous circle and then crimping it shut to keep making the chain, until it is as long as you want it (make sure the number of circles is an odd number, for symmetry). I ended up having 21 circles total. When you finish, find the middle circle, add a strawberry charm. Add the two more evenly spaced from the middle, one on either side . Finish with attaching a clasp to the two outer loops. You're done!
