About

A really cute top perfect for summer. You don't need a whole new red t-shirt, just enough fabric to get the hearts.

You Will Need (4 things)

  • Elastic Band
  • 1 Black T Shirt (I chose a XXL)
  • 1 Red T Shirt
  • Sewing Machine Or Needle And Thread

Steps (10 steps, 40 minutes)

  1. 1

Cut your black t-shirt as showed in this picture, the width of your top part should fit your breasts.
You can leave the bottom part larger like I did (I'll show you later why). I also left the front connected to the back. If you think it's way too big you can shrink it down a little and sew the sides back together.
Also cut 3 hearts from the red t-shirt (about 24 cm, 17 cm and 10 cm).

  2. 2

    Now you will have:
2 top parts (front and back)
    1 bottom part
    3 different size hearts

  3. 3

sew the top parts together. when finished check if it fits: it doesnt have to be too tight, yet tight enough to stay in place.

  4. 4

    Now the boring part.
Connect the top part to the bottom part RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER.
I didn't shrink the bottom part because I wanted to gather the excess fabric in the back, to add some interest (picture). If top and bottom are the same width, skip the "gahering" part.
    Pin it down carefully

  5. 5

Make sure you don't sew thw wrong parts.
Once your done try it on, if it fits you can add a zig zag stitch, just in case the thead breaks apart. We don't want to flash anyone, right?

  6. 6

Lay the black top on a smooth surface and mark the center line with a few pins.

  7. 7

Now place your yearts. The center line will help you find the right position. Once you are satisfied, pin them down. Make sure that under the hearts there are no wrinkles.

  8. 8

Sew the hearts in the top. I'm doing a zig zag with black thread, but you can use any color (or stitch) you want.
TAKE YOUR TIME. This may be quite difficult, try not to pull the fabric too much and every now and then stop to check if you are doing good.

  9. 9

I didn't hem the top part because I think it would look odd, so I just added a zig zag stitch (when I put the top on I fold it inside so no one will notice).
If your top part is too big you can sew an elastic band to keep it in place.

  10. 10

Here you go! Your new top!
