Begin by looking up the street on Google Maps street view. Carefully sketch the buildings onto tracing paper, making sure to capture all the major outlines, windows and doors.
Cut a piece of cork board and thick card to the size of your box frame.
When you're happy with your sketch, place it on top of the card and set up your sewing machine with black thread.
Start by stitching along the outline of the building and any long straight lines.
Once you're comfortable sewing through the card, go onto the smaller details like windows and doors.
Keep stitching adding as much detail as you can to the drawing. When you're done, tear away the tracing paper from the card and trim down any excess threads.
Place the card on top of the cork board and press some tack pins at either side of the long leading lines of the drawing.
Wrap black embroidery thread around the tacks, hightling the outlines of the building and leading lines of the image.
Keep adding threads until you have a nice 3D design of your sketch. Tr
Place in the shadow box and you're done!
