This is a very tasty, sticky, yummy, calorie filled dessert.

It is easy to make. The sauce will boil up so I suggest a larger pot than I used.

It can be served hot or cold.

You Will Need (16 things)

  • 8oz Dates Stoned
  • 250ml Tea
  • 3 1/2oz Butter
  • 6oz Sugar Golden caster
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Mixed Spice
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 8 oz Self-Raising Flour
  • 3/4 tsp Bicarbonate Of Soda
  • Toffee sauce

  • 4oz Butter
  • 4 1/2 oz Light Brown Sugar
  • 4 1/2 oz Dark Brown Sugar
  • 10 oz Golden Syrup
  • 8 oz Heavy Cream
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla

Steps (12 steps, 90 minutes)

    Heat oven 180 / gas 4.

    Chop dates & make up tea.

    Cook out dates & tea for a couple of mins til dates are soft.

    Set aside to cool.

    Beat butter & sugar together.

    Add eggs one at a time. Mix thoroughly.

    Add spice & vanilla.

    Add cooled dates.

    Add sift flour & bicarbonate of soda.

    Mix to combine.

    Pour into tin.

    Cook for approximately 45mins. Until cooked through.

    Remove & cool.

    Make up the sauce....

    Put all ingredients into pot.

    Bring to boil & thicken. Approx 5 mins.

    Serve the cake with the sauce on top, also add vanilla ice cream.
