Lucifer... if you have a Harbor Freight store near you, they sell watch opening and closing kits. Check them out! I don't remember how much they cost... but having one of those and using a very very small flat head screwdriver will help open a watch. Most watches now a days don't have cool parts in them tho...
OHHHH you're so lucky! Those parts can get expensive! This hat is a great design. I'm totally 'favoriting' it so I can use it for inspiration. THANK YOU!
I can't find anyone willing to give up old watches. And pocket watches....forget it. I really want to work on some miniture Steampunk stuff. Maybe I'll break down and buy some parts off Etsy or e-bay.
AGH YOU ARE SO LUCKY! >O
I should ask around at the repair stores near here..
I have a crap load of dead old watches, but the backs are near IMPOSSIBLE to take off..
Maybe I'll go to a few and ask them to open my watches, then smooothly ask if they have any left over gears and crap that are useless to them.. e--e
I am SO jealous.. I have been trying so hard to gather up clock and watch parts. it's that good old Holland thing again, nothing much for opportunity around this small village...LOL Your work is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, I LOVE your style on all your projects!
It never hurts to ask.
