Start by marking six dots for the points of your star. It helps to visualize how they will connect, but you don’t need to draw the dotted lines connecting the points.
Bring the thread up at one end of a ray. Insert the tip of the needle into the point on the opposite side. You can pull the thread to the back and come up at the next point, or you can take a shortcut by inserting the tip of the needle in the next point before pulling through the thread.
This will bring you back on top and ready to stitch the next ray.
Repeat step 2 with the remaining rays, overlapping them in the middle.
Bring the tip of the needle up at one side of the overlapped center.
Tack down these three stitches by inserting the needle into the other side of the intersection, and pull the thread flat.
