I hand make all my ear cuffs & this one has got to be one of my favorites! I made a turquoise-ish gray-ish one it as a special order for a model & she rocked it so hard! It was amazing. At last! Converted to a how-to :) This is my version <3

Instructions

  1. Small img 8173

Prep your ear cuff base with your wire! Lots of people do this differently..I use this thick bendy wire.. This is all you need to do with this wire for now!

  2. Small img 8174

Organize your feathers however you want! I like to do it according to size of the actual feather - not the feather with the stem :) (since you can always snip the stem to whatever length you want)

  3. Small holders

I used these spring coil holder thingies... and bent about 2 wires to a 90 degree angle (this is the part you slide onto the wire)

  4. Small img 8182

Set up your feathers onto the spring coil holder thingies... I like to dab a teeny bit of super glue to make them hold really well

  5. Small loop

On the brown feathered cuff - I used thin copper jewelry wire, it worked okay, I won't do it this way again though. On the gray-blue cuff on the model - I used leather rope - works perfectly fine On this one, I used this type of thread/rope, i'm sorry i'm not sure what it's called but it's pretty tough :) Put the thread through the top metal loop (this is the top of your cuff, it goes by the top of your ear) and start wrapping the rest around the thread you looped though the cat's eye - this will hold the thread in place & prevent unraveling.

  6. Small img 8187

Just loop for a little bit & then slide the feather onto the cuff base - Loop once around the spring coil holder (This prevents the feather from being all wonky & holds it snug) I hope the picture showed this well enough

  7. Small img 8188

Continue looping on the main base until you feel it's enough space to put the next feather, and so on

  8. Small img 8189

Get all the way to bottom, cut excess thread. Use your pliers to curl the bottom loop for the metal & dab a bit of super glue on the thread to prevent unraveling
