Description

Cute square knot glass beaded bracelet. Perfect for a hand made gift or friendship bracelet.

Instructions

  1. Small picture1

Take one length of cord and fold it in half. (These are your bead strands.) Slip the loop over an anchor point, such as a hook or nail in a piece of wood. Take a second length of cord and centre it under the bead strands, about 2cm from the top of the loop. You should have equal amounts of cord extends on both sides of the bead strands. These are your knotting cords.

  2. Small square knot

To make a square knot take the right-hand knotting cord and lay it over the bead strands, forming a loop on the right (Diagram 1). Take the left-hand knotting cord and take it over the right-hand cord, then under the bead strands and diagonally up throught the loop (Diagram 2). Pull the ends gently to form a tight knot over the bead strands. (looks like picture 1).

  3. Now repeat the steps BUT start by forming a loop on the left with left-hand knotting cord, bringing the right-hand knotting cord over, under and through to form the knot. Make 4 alternating knots in this way (right, left, right, left).

  4. Small picture2

Thread a glass bead onto the 2 bead strands and make the next knot in the same way, simply bringing the knotting cords down each side of the bead and making the knot below the bead (keeping the right/left sequence correct). Make another 3 knots before picking up the next bead. Proceed in this way making 4 knots then adding a bead. TIP: When the knotting cords run out, simply start a new one as you did at the beginning.

  5. Small dscn1110

Make the Bracelet to the length you want then tie the ends in a knot and trim. Add a bead with a knot at both side to finish. ALL DONE. TIP: When you trim the cord ends on your jewellery, dab the ends with a little PVA glue to prevent fraying.
