well, my cat looked really bored, i was really bored, so i thought `lets make a cat toy!` this is my first ever how-to, so i hope its ok to understand, if not, then please tell me!
gather equipment, i used green and purple felt, but you can use any colours you want.
cut out 2 squares from 1 piece of felt and leave the other one to one side. get a piece of paper and cut out a cat head.
trace the shape onto the other piece of felt (the one you didnt cut the squares from) with a pen and cut it out
this is where i made it become dodged up, i know the picture has the 2 squares sewn up, but DONT DO THAT, itll make it difficult for you, so get ONE of the squares and sew the cat head onto it. write on your catsname down the side, or wherever you want it to be.
STILL DONT SEW UP THE 2 SQUARES TOGETHER! sew on top of the name that you wrote on in pen in the same colour as the cat head. i hope thats easy to understand...
NOW you can sew the 2 squares together, i used the embroidery floss to keep it strong and durable for my cat to play with. i used a blanket stitch to sew it up because it looks nice and practical. if you dont know how to do a blanket stitch, its basically a slip stitch, but you pull the thread through the loop before you pull to make the stitch.
sew 3 sides up, but leaving one of the sides open to put the stuffing and catnip in. i know it hasnt got the cat head on it, but lets pretend that its on there or its on the other side :)
stuff the square with a layer of polyester stuffing, you can use anything else like fabric scraps or those little balls you can get, i think they`re called polyester balls, im not sure, but you get the point on the whole stuffing thing.
then put a teaspoon of catnip on top of the stuffing. i guess you could also use bellsinside aswell but i didnt have one of those so i had to make do with just the catnip.
keep on doing that: a thin layer of stuffing a teaspoon of catnip and so on until you have stuffed it full or how stuffed you want it to be. but make sure it has more than 2 teaspoons of catnip because cats get uninterested with it after a few seconds, which happened with my cat because i only put in 2 yeaspoons of catnip.
sew the side up...
and vola! a new cat toy for you feline friend! my cat really liked it, its just that when i tried to take a photo of her playing with it, it turned out dark so i had to take it when she wasnt playing with it... but doesnt she look proud! or she looks as if shes more interested in the frog than the toy...i shouldnt have said that...NOM! :P
i hope you enjoyed my how-to, comment if theres a problem with it or tell me how to improve it or whatever... :) i would appretiate it! Thanks!
