This is a favorite with my family, especially around Christmas. The Cayenne Pepper gives it just a hint of heat.

You Will Need (13 things)

  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
  • 8 tbsp Butter
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 Brown Sugar Corn Syrup Or Light Syrup
  • 2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • ¼ Shelled Pumpkin Seeds
  • Candy Thermometer
  • 1 Rimmed Baking Sheet
  • Aluminum Foil
  • 1 Large Saucepan

Steps (5 steps, 45 minutes)

    Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spread Pumpkins seeds in a rimmed baking sheet. Roast in oven for 8-10 min. Toss seeds 1-2 times during roasting.

    Line baking sheet with 2 layers of foil. Whisk together soda, cinnamon, salt, and cayenne, set aside.

    In a large saucepan mix; sugar, syrup, and water. Cover and bring to a boil over high heat. Add butter and stir till melted

    Cook over medium/high heat without stirring for 20min or until a candy thermometer reads 305 degrees. Stir in pumpkin seeds and vanilla.

    Remove from heat, sprinkle with baking soda mixture from step 2. Stir vigorously for 15 sec. Pour into prepared pan. Let cool.

    Break into pieces and enjoy
