About

If you haven’t discovered ready-cooked noodles in your local supermarket, then that epiphany is alone worth the price of this book. We promise. They are part-cooked (more tasty than it sounds) which means they can be fried in a pan in 90 seconds. So you can have a meal on the table for your offspring in less time than it takes to make a cup of tea. Make double and the next day’s lunchbox is sorted too.

Start to finish: about 4 minutes

You Will Need (6 things)

  • Garlic-infused Oil
  • Handful of cooked frozen Prawns /shrimp
  • Handful of frozen Peas
  • 300 g (10 oz) ready-cooked Noodles
  • 1 Egg , beaten
  • Soy Sauce

Steps (2 steps, 4 minutes)

  1. 1

In a large frying pan heat some garlic-infused oil until it is properly hot. Add the frozen prawns and peas and cook for about 2 minutes, then add the noodles and cook for another 90 seconds, stirring all the time. Add the egg, still stirring, and a splash of soy sauce. This is very salty (which means kids love it!) so go easy for younger children. Decant into lunchboxes.

    Serving suggestions
Replace the peas with sweetcorn/corn kernels, carrot ribbons or bean sprouts. You can also use meat left over from Sunday’s roast, shredded and added to the pan with the peas. Just make sure that it is properly heated through.
