About

i had a light up make up mirror. then one day it fell and cracked on the side. :(

i lived cautiously for fear of bad luck and glass shards. it still lit up, but was broken so they wouldn't have accepted it at a charity drop off. it was too nice to end up in a landfill - so i just covered the cracked side with a bunch of duck tape. it was a bit of an eyesore - but worked.

....now, with some hot glue and trinkets... it's artsy and functional.

safety note: if I do plug it in and turn on the back light my beautiful mirror could possibly be a huge fire hazard. i would recommend a non-electric mirror. keep it safe, people.

You Will Need (4 things)

  • Hot Glue Gun
  • 5 Hot Glue Gun Sticks
  • Broken/Old Or Cheap Jewelery
  • 1 old or cheap Mirror hand or free standing

Steps (5 steps, 60 minutes)

  1. 1

    step 1.

    Collect trinkets

I used - beads, earrings, scrapbooking brass fasteners. beads, brooches, necklaces, rings, pendants

I cleaned out a lot of junk jewelry from my bead box- making room for a lot of new treasures.

    step 2.

    arrange the trinkets.

mine are asymmetrical because i was trying to cover up the duck tape. i did a lot of overlapping.

but you are free to arrange in whatever way makes you happy.

at some point down the road - i may add more to the edges. we'll see...
