Instructions

  1. Small 027 rps1539 snowshake 1

Paint Lid Paint the lid of the jam jar with silver paint and let it dry completely. You may wish to sand the metal lid lightly before painting so the paint adheres better to the surface. If required, apply a second coat of paint for better coverage and again leave to dry.

Attach Decoration Use strong glue to firmly attach the decoration to the inside of the jam jar lid. If the decoration is on the small side, build up a small mound using waterproof tile adhesive and press the decoration firmly into this. Leave until completely dry.

Fill jar and add glitter Use a jug/pitcher to pour the distilled water into the jam jar. Fill it right up to the brim. Now stir in two teaspoons of glycerine and half a teaspoon of washing-up liquid. Add five or six spoonfuls of glitter to the water. White or silver glitter looks most similar to snow, although bright colours like red or green can look very jolly and festive.

Finish Off Carefully place the lid on the top of the jam jar and screw the lid tightly in place. The jam jar should be watertight, but you may wish to seal it around the edges with a thin layer of silicone sealant, which is available from good craft stores.
