About

This project took me about 2 hours, but keep in mind that the time frame did not include cutting the wood or finishing it. The particular piece of wood I chose was a spare piece of wood that had broken off of an old TV stand and was already finished. I simply drew the design I liked, and painted it, followed by adding the nails I had on hand and hanging brackets on the back. I would recommend choosing an unfinished piece of lumber about the size you need to efficiently hang the desired amount of coats, towels, or hoodies, as a finished piece did make the design a bit more difficult for me draw my design on before I painted it. This will also give you a better opportunity to use a wood burning pen to etch your design. Also, I recommend using hooks made for hanging towels or clothing as the nails have the potential to snag clothing. I needed somewhere to hang my jackets and hoodies and used what I had handy.

You Will Need (8 things)

  • Hanging Hoops Or if preferred, you can nail it to the wall.
  • Wood burning pen
  • Acrylic Paint (this is what I used to paint my design)
  • Wood screws, I'm sure, will be needed for attaching hooks and hanging hoops or to screw board directly to the wall if desired.
  • Clothing Hooks (better option than nails)
  • Wooden Board of desired size.
  • Wood Varnish or Krylon Crystal Clear . You can choose to not add a varnish but it will preserve the project and if you used acrylic paint for your design you'll most likely want to use Krylon Crystal Clear as your varnish.
  • Pencil and Marker (I used the pencil to draw the design, and the marker to outline it once I was done so I would have guidelines for when I applied the paint.
