I needed a fairy costume for my daughter for tomorrow (eek!)so I customised a vest, whipped up this skirt and added wings and a wand to complete the ensemble. This skirt works well in many fabrics. ^_^

Cut your fabric (in this case purple felt and pink netting)to 74cm x 30cm.
Add a hem (or as I am using felt, I added decoration).
Fold fabric, RS together, and stitch a 1cm seam. Iron seam flat. Fold waistband over by 2-3cm, depending on the thickness of your elastic and stitch, leaving 3cm or so to insert the elastic.
Measure your littlee's waist and add 1 1/2-2cm. Cut elastic to this length. Attach each end of the elastic to a safety pin and pin one to the skirt (so the elastic doesn't ping out of the other end!) Make sure the elastic isn't twisted. Feed the elastic through the channel and back out when you reach the end. Stitch the 2 ends of the elastic securely together, even out the gathers and sew the opening closed.
Turn RS out and there you have it, a cutsey little skirt.
The complete outfit.
