You can use this technique for making any width of tie out of any fabric. For this project, I used a silky black fabric.
If you are a school kid, you could try sewing a slightly wrong version of your school tie to confuse your teachers.. maybe that's a bad idea, but I wish that I had tried it.

You Will Need (8 things)
- Fabric
- Paper (for templates)
- Pin(s)
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Sewing Machine
- Tailors Chalk
- Thread
Steps (10 steps, 40 minutes)
-
1
Make yourself two templates, one of a large triangle (double the width you'd like your tie) and a smaller triange.
-
2
Draw the shapes out on to your fabric.
-
3
Use a ruler to extend the length of your triangles. Make the smaller half and larger half separately and draw out the triangles to a length that you are happy with.
-
4
Cut out the two shapes.
-
5
Decorate the front of the larger triangle if you want.
-
6
Pin up the two rough bottom edges of the larger triangle.
-
7
Sew along the bottom so that the edge is left nice and neat, repeat this with the smaller triangle.
-
8
Fold the ties in half so that the wrong side is facing the outside and pin along the sides.
-
9
Sew along the edges.
-
10
Fold in half and you're ready to face the town.
