I never wear t-shirts, but when I was able to get this shirt for only 3 dollars, I did and making it into a pillow was the best way to get use out of it. This is an easy way to make any t-shirt look good as a pillow!

Description

I never wear t-shirts, but when I was able to get this shirt for only 3 dollars, I did and making it into a pillow was the best way to get use out of it. This is an easy way to make any t-shirt look good as a pillow!

Instructions

  1. Small dscf3168 1238466486

Make sure you have a nice flat surface to work on, turn your T-shirt inside out.

  2. Small dscf3170 1238466588

Cut off both the sleeves outside of the seam (the seam helps keep the t-shirt sturdy)

  3. Small dscf3182 1238466628

Make sure your shirt is laying flat and the sides are evenly placed. Then measure in the length from the edge of the side to the nearest inside of the shirt's arm sleeve (you want to be able to sew all the way up)

  4. Small dscf3185 1238466910

Pin each side all the way, make sure it is the same length from the edge all the way down. It may not look like a perfectly straight line but it will work.

  5. Small dscf3186 1238467052

Now pin a straight line across the top. An easy way to do this is sick a pin in the middle of the highest point (which would be right under the collar) then just pin at the same height all the way across.

  6. Small dscf3193 1238467170

You will have something that looks like this. Sorry the photo is a bit blurry.

  7. Small dscf3196 1238467200

Sew on the inside of the pins on all three sides, twice. (for re-enforced strength)

  8. Small dscf3199 1238467255

The bottom of the shirt with the hem will still be open.

  9. Small dscf3202 1238467282

Sew the bottom using the hem as a guide REMEMBER NOT TO SEW ALL THE WAY ACROSS (refer to next step)

  10. Small dscf3204 1238467370

Leave a hole big enough for your hand to fit in (to stuff your pillow of course!)

  11. Small dscf3207 1238467403

Cut off all the excess material leaving as much or as little you like, just make sure not to cut too close!

  12. Small dscf3208 1238467464

Now flip your pillow right side out and you should have something that looks like a pillowcase.

  13. Small dscf3210 1238467492

remember to make sure you push the corners all the way out to make them look nice.

  14. Small dscf3212 1238467565

Next, stuff your pillow, you can use stuffing that you can buy at a store or if you have an old pillow you don't care for you can use the stuffing out of that, which is what I did. It is very resourceful.

  15. Small dscf3213 1238467612

Stuff in as much as you like that is comfortable for you and don't forget to stuff right up to the outside of the hole.

  16. Small dscf3218 1238467646

Now grab that needle and thread, fold the material inwards and sew up your stuffing hole, you can have someone to assist you if you like, or pin it first if you are not used to doing this!

Success ! you now have a stylish pillow.
