I made a very simple thread catcher from the leg of an old pair of jeans and an old shirt. I sewed two tubes from them, leaving the one for the inside a little longer, sewed them close from one side, put the longer one into the other with stuffing between them, turned out the inner one and sewed the hem. Then I cut a circle from matching fabric twice larger than the CD, put the CD and some stuffing inside, sewed a basting stitch, gathered it and tied a knot. This keeps the thread catcher upright. I sewed 4 large buttons as embellishments but you can use anything.
