Steps (9 steps, 30 minutes)
-
1
Choose a plain clip art image and print it out on paper. A simple Google search should aid in your quest or you can even create your own using a cookie cutter.
Cut out your pattern and trace it with a pencil on the wrong side of your chosen fabric.
-
2
Cut your shape out of your fabric.
-
3
Glue your fabric shape down on stiff cardboard. This could also be done on felt or another heavy material. Anything that would keep the fabric shape stiff.
-
4
Cut out both your shape and the cardboard. (They're glued together so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.)
-
5
OPTIONAL: Use clothes pins or a heavy object to keep the fabric glued to the cardboard while it dries.
-
6
Glue a brooch backing onto your shape when it's dry.
-
7
You can also use a self adhesive brooch backing if that's simpler for you.
-
8
Have fun creating lots of new shapes to wear!

TIP: An idea for interesting fabrics is to use an old make-up case. They are sold for for cheap at dollar stores and other retailers + many beauty subscription services send them for free every month. They have lots of interesting patterns and textures that would be harder to find at a fabric store.
